Losing Tummy Fat By Walking It Off: Is It Really Possible?
Want to start losing tummy fat? If you aren’t currently an active person and you are wanting to get into a workout program, walking is definitely an excellent way to start your journey. Walking burns calories and tones and shapes your lower half, so it is possible to start losing tummy fat by walking. But if you really want to begin losing tummy fat, you need to be ready to change your eating habits as well. The foods that you eat play a big role in how big (or small) your tummy is.
Here are a few different ways that walking can help in losing tummy fat:
- Walk up hills – Summer is right around the corner so now is the perfect time to get some exercising done outdoors. Walking up hills will help you burn more calories than just walking on a flat surface. If you don’t have access to a hill, check out some of these other ways walking will help you in losing tummy fat. You might also try walking up stairs – that would work as well.
- Walk on a treadmill – With treadmills you can increase the incline, also helping you to burn more calories. If you’re first starting out, just begin by increasing the incline to 1 or 2% and walk for 15-20 minutes. Then every couple weeks, increase the incline by 1%.
- Do intervals – You can do these anywhere. Simply walk at a moderate pace for 3 minutes and then continue by increasing your walking pace for 1 minute. You want to work towards about 1 minute of running followed by 1 minute of walking. It’ll take some time so don’t let yourself get frustrated. Just keep working towards that goal.
You don’t have to run 15 miles a day to start losing tummy fat. Just start out by walking for 20 to 30 minutes a day. Remember to always include a warm up and cool down of 5-10 minutes.
