Is It Possible to Target Belly Fat?

The only way to target belly fat is by having liposuction performed. Otherwise, there is no way to target the fat in your stomach area. In order for you to start losing belly fat and the fat all over your body, you must burn it off. (Not with fire of course…that would hurt and leave scars.)

Here are a few activities that you can do to help you start losing the belly fat once and for all:

Cardio – An excellent all-over fat burning activity. Try to keep your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes per day, 3 times per week. If you are interested in learning more about finding your target heart, WebMD has a tool to help you. (It’s a calculator so you don’t have to do any math yourself.) Some great cardio activities include:

  • Running
  • Biking
  • Stationary Bike (also known as “spinning”)
  • Swimming
  • Dancing around your house to your favorite songs… hey…I DO that!
  • Kickboxing
  • Stair Climbing
  • Jumping Rope

Strength Training – You must build up muscle in order to effectively burn even more fat and help to keep it off. This does NOT mean that you will end up looking bulky. Do not be afraid to lift weights.

  • Squats
  • Bicep Curls
  • Deadlifts
  • Push ups (or modified push-ups)
  • Abdominal exercises
  • Bent-over Rows
  • Dumbbell Presses

I’m sure you can think of many, many more cardio and strength training activities that you could do, but for today I just wanted to give an overview of some of them and then I will get into the specifics with each one in upcoming blog posts.
