Getting Rid of Love Handles: A How To
Frankly, getting rid of love handles can be a b!tch. I’m still working to lose the rest of mine after having my second child and it’s tough. In order to start decreasing the size of those love handles, the following is what I suggest you do, because it’s what has been working for me:
1. Cardio – Aim for at least 20-30 minutes a day, 3 times a week. If you can do cardio more than 3 times a week, you will probably even see faster results. What will burn even more fat during any cardio activity is interval training. An example would be: Running as hard as you can for 30 seconds and then walking briskly for 90 seconds. I tend to burn around 250 calories in about 20 minutes. Interval training has had a tremendous impact on my quest of getting rid of love handles.
You could do the same type of interval training while jump roping, swimming, running on a treadmill or elliptical…etc.
2. Strength Training – You should really strength train your entire body, but to help with love handles, it’s important that you work your core (abs) and also your lower back. Strenghtening these muscles will help to build up your abdominals which will increase the amount of calories you burn overall, including the burning of fat. Try doing exercises like: Plank, Hanging Leg Raises, Deadlifts and Squats.
3. Avoid Sugar – Sugar is bad, bad, bad for your physique. Avoid excess sugar at all costs. Natural sugars in things like fruit is okay, but even that in excess can keep your body quite bloated. Steer clear of soda pop!
If you follow each of these steps towards getting rid of love handles, I guarantee you will start seeing results in as little as 2 weeks! If you don’t believe me, take some measurements before you start (i.e. waistline, hips, thighs) and then measure again in 2 weeks to see how much you’ve improved. I’ve been doing this monthly for the last 3 months and the improvements I’m seeing are what keeps me going!
